Richmond, VA- February 21, 2014. Webbright, a Richmond, Va. venture, was selected as a semi-finalist in the graduate division of the 2014 Venture Creation Competition (VCC) sponsored by the de vinci Center at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
"The VCC is one of the many great opportunities that are opening up for me personally as a current student at the VCU Executive MBA program, and an outstanding opportunity for Webbright to gain visibility and recognition at the VCU level and add validity and viability for this venture," said Lamees Abourahma, Webbright founder and president.
VCC participants learn first-hand what venture creation means and the necessary elements for moving an idea/concept/technology forward towards becoming a real venture. Those students selected as VCC finalists compete for cash prizes and in-kind services that can be used to realize the commercial potential of the respective concept, invention, and/or technology. The VCU Venture Creation Competition comprises an undergraduate division;and graduate division. Each division offers a $4,000 first prize; $3,000 second prize; $2,000 third prize and two $1,000 finalist awards. The finals of the VCU VCC will be; Wednesday, April 23, 2014.
For Stage Two of the competition, Webbright will be submitting a Business Model Canvas based on the; Business Model Geneation by Alexander Osterwalder and Yves Pigneur, John Wiley & Sons, 2010 that is due on Monday, March 24, 2014. The finalists will be announced on April 9th and will advance to Stage Three- Venture Presentation.
"The VCC will be the first competition Webbright participates in at any level and a great experience for me as I work through the different stages of this process.
